Natural Gas Invited for their 34th Sacramento Jazz Jubilee

With a heavy sigh of relief and a big
grin featuring his well maintained
dentures, Dr. Phil Crumley let the AR in a
big surprise when he Emailed us the
following note:
"At first, Gene Berthelsen told me that
they had no money or space for us at the Jubilee so that our record of 33 consecutive Jubilees would be broken. Last week he called and told me a band dropped out which made room for us! Natural Gas will only be there one day (Sunday) but it will make 34consecutive Sacramento Jubilee appearances for us. I was delighted with that turn of event."

A new book, written by Frederick Turner, has just been released, The
opening sentences are:

"On the anvil of the cornbelt's summer sun the crowd sizzles at the
riverfront park in Davenport. The gaunt-framed old man stands slightly
separate from them, his back turned on the bandshell where the Natural Gas Jass Band races through Muskrat Ramble."
